"The IBM PC Convertible is the first laptop computer released by IBM. Released on April 3, 1986, the Convertible was also the first IBM computer to use the 3½-inch floppy disk format which went on to become the industry standard. Like modern laptops, it featured power management and the ability to run from batteries" (Wikipedia). It was model number 5140.
This PC Convertible was mine. Today I plugged it in, and as you can see, it runs!... I inserted the start-up disk, and photographed a couple of the screens. (Sorry for the glare from the sun.) Also included is the Disk Operating System, version 3.20. I am asking $375.00 but will consider offers.
This is a fairly heavy item, so I am estimating shipping at $45. If the shipping is less, I will certainly reimburse the difference to the buyer.
