So Pa gets another one of his "ideas" and decides to go 'round in the truck and pick through it all. Seems this eBay thing has grown on him. Heck, the neighbors don't care, they're beggin' him to haul it away! He's found all kinds of stuff! Antiques, linens, glassware, collectibles, toys, paper, pictures – you name it –... we got a bunch of it stacked up around here! Extremely rare W. Britain metal, hand painted May, 1937, H.M. King Edward VIII in Coronation Robes, No. 1473 in original fitted box. The figure stands approximately 3 1/4" and the robes spread out 2" x 3 7/8", paint has a few missing spots, rubs and grazing, but is amazing for its age (see photos). The box is intact with no split corners, there is some darkening and discoloration from age as well as wear on the original top label (again see photos). Inside the box is the original cardboard fitting with H.M. King Edward VIII Coronation May, 1937 printed on top. The label describes the Coronation Robes as "Three Robes were used at the Coronation of English Kings. The first (The Royal Crinmson Robe of State) is used during the journey from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey, the second (The Golden Imperioal Mantle) is used at the Abbey and thie third (the Royal Robe of Purple Velvet) after the Ceremony." I have never seen this figurine before and although extensive research has been done, I have been unable to even locate a photo or evidence of another one. An absolute must have for any W. Britain or Edward VIII collection!
