Vintage C1928 " Remington Baby Rem " Portable Typewriter With Case

This charming "Baby Rem" portable typewriter is in good 'as found' acondition and dates from around 1925 and was maunfactured by "Remington" in the late 1920's, it is a copy of the "Blickensderfer No. 5". Remington acquired the tools and dies to make the machine in 1926 and was produced as the "Rem-Blick" in the USA and the "Baby Rem" in the UK. Production ceased in 1928.The machine has retained much of its' originsl black finish with only light scuffs, scratches and use marks that yo...u would associate with a machine of this age, I can't find any splits or cracks to the body, the nickel plating around the keys, swinging arm and paper table has also retained much of the original finish.The gilt writing to the front of the machine has "Baby Rem, Manufactured By The Remington Typewriter Co., Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A.", this is still clear and legible with a good depth of colour. The serial number is KD80286.The keys work, the type-wheel revolves and hits the ink roller and the carriage moves along as it should. However, the "CAP" & "FIG" key appear not to be connected internally and consequently, don't function.The space bar folds out fine and the platen revolves.All of the celluloid key covers are present without cracks, the letters, numbers and symbols are clear and legible.It has its original case and instructions, although these have suffered over the years.
