SUBLIME ANTIQUE FRENCH SILK BROCADE CANTONNIERE VALENCE PELMET c1900
This is a beautiful antique French silk brocade cantonniere pelmet that was used as part of a ciel de lit baldequin display. Recently rebacked and a hanging strip added at the top it is ready for use. The silk damask is a divine soft raspberry with the brocade design of acanthus leaf scrolls and curls in saffron cream. The bottom deep scallopped edge is trimmed wi...th silk serpentine passementerie braid in co ordinating shades with a raspberry silk fringe below. The backing is raspberry silk. Depth max 25cms Width 200cms Perfect to dress any window, doorway or a ciel de lit bed canopy. The silk is stiffened within and it hangs beautifully. A superb silk confection for any period maison display. I have more from this batch that I am listing in my other items. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling.
