**BARN FIND**
We are offering 2 very rare 1950's Charles Eames PKW-2 wire bikini chairs. These were made by the Herman Miller Co. of Venice, CAThe chairs have the maple leg swivel bases. They both have their original buckskin leather bikini covers with horse hair backing and their original labels. All the vacking materials are in really good condition. The leather seat covers are in rough condition. 1 seat has the edge stitching coming apart and the lea...ther is torn. The other has some damage to the bottom section and also a mark where a 5 gallon bucket sat on the seat for a long time. The frames, seat basket and legs were refinished. The wire basket has been repaired with welds (PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES) all metal was sanded, primed and 2 coated satin finished. The legs were removed, sanded, stained and 2 coated satin varnish. All hardware and fastners are original.
We have located a company that will remake the leather to cover the original backing and keep the original labels. The company does this work all the time. They quoted us a price of $265.00 per chair. You would ship them the original seat and back cushions and they would ship them back once they were completed. The company is "Modern Conscience". We decided not to have them recovered ourselves because they have other colors available other than the buckskin color. With all that being said these chairs are in good condition with the repairs, but please look over the photos carefully to see the repairs.
