Brand: JVC |
This JVC RC-550JW is in as-found condition. It is very, very dirty with lots of dust and grime. It has white paint speckles over the top and front of the unit, more so on the top than front. I removed a few spots of paint with some cleaner but the unit needs disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. (beyond what I'm capable of) I do not see any cracks in the plastic of the unit but there are scuffs, dings and a few dents. The s...peaker grills do not have any dents in them but they are filthy along with the speakers themselves. I have zero electronics experience but I will try to describe the functionality of the boombox as well as I can. I can not test the boombox completely and correctly so I have to sell it AS IS with no guarantees.
RADIO WORKS and the speakers sound clear. I only took the volume to five but they sounded good.
Handle is attached and works, Dial light lit up and works, Level/Tuning/Battery meter works, Red Peak Power lights (El Diablo lights) work. No antenna but the stub is still attached, No JVC label on the front, Volume slide works but is very, very stiff, Tone slides work (bass & treble) but are very, very stiff, Tape turns with a tape in on play but no sound, Review and Cue buttons depress but do not move the tape, Eject and Stop buttons work, Rec button not tested, Tape counter button works, Tape memory button very, very stiff.
Peak-Rec-Rec Level switch moves on and off (turns on/off the red power peak lights), Min-Max knob turns but not tested, Mixing-Mix Balance switch moves on and off, Ext Mic Source knob turns but not tested. Radio on off switch works, Band Selection dial works (FM works, SW1-3 works (all get static) and MW (AM radio) works. Radio channel knob works, Fine Tuning knob turns but not tested, Swivel Mic dial turns but not tested.
Side Panel--I do not have any external power cords or adapters (DC12V or AC Input) ****Please note: The AC power selector button on the side panel is missing. I hear some pieces rolling around inside of the unit but I did not remove the rear cover so I don't know if the button is pushed inside of the boombox or not.
Side Panel--Inputs for mic-remote, aux-in, ear and beat cut not tested.
Rear Panel--JVC part and serial number decal attached to the unit, 2 of the 3 top screws holding the rear panel on the unit are missing (could be inside the unit rolling around also) All of the other rear panel screws are ok.
The radio is big and heavy---17 lbs
Please remember AS IS since these are best guesses with my limited knowledge of this boombox.
