Fores sporting scraps “Boating” Antique/ Vintage Rowing / Regatta Print“Scullers Outriggers”Nice coloured print of rowing scullers on the Thames in London . Searle and sons boat builders in the background.Before Leander club moved to Henley on Thames in was for a period of time based in Searle’s boat yard Putney after moving from Lambeth.( please note boat builders to her majesty...Queen Victoria)I removed the print from the frame to clean out dirt that had got behind the gla...ss. There is no staining to the print but there is slight discolouration due to age / exposure to light. Please check the photographs for further detailsThe frame has some light chipping to the edgesGlass can be removed before shipping if requestedAprox 9 inches by 6 and 3/4 inches inc frame275 grams in weightSome delightful evidence that Putney was an established centre of amateur rowing by the late 1840s is given by four engravings published on 25th January 1851 ‘by Messrs. Fores at their Sporting and Finest Print Repository and Frame Manufactory, 41 Piccadilly’ showing various types of rowing boats along the Embankment.
