To hear demos, I recommend you YouTube "ensoniq soundscape midi video killed the radio star". In late 1994 or in 1985 this w...as one of the MIDI files I played. The quality of the instruments was exceptional. I had a Korg M1 keyboard (which had cost almost $3000) that had 4 megs of rom wave of very high quality. And this Ensoniq board for your pc had 8 megs of very high quality instruments. Ensoniq was a synthesizer manufacturer in the 80s & 90s. They made instruments. At the time I bought this board for use in my 486 computer, I was interested in expanding my home synthesizer instruments and having a way to play the new MIDI sequenced files as my Korg couldn't do that.
I used this sound card to not only playback MIDI songs, but also, as a live instrument with my MIDI keyboard. The grand piano and some of the sounds were much higher quality than my Korg, and it had many other great instruments as Ensoniq specialized in making synthesizers for musicians. A lot of famous songs were recorded with Ensoniq keyboard instruments. Their Mirage keyboard in the mid 80s brought sampling technology to the masses, previously costing more like buying a home or sports car. Rick Wakeman of Yes used an Ensoniq VFX when I saw him in the late 80s & 1990. I was pretty familiar with the quality of Ensoniq instruments when I bought this board. In 1998, Creative Labs (maker of Sound Blaster) bought the Ensoniq company.
Use this board in games that support it for retro 90s gaming for "Ensoniq quality instruments" in those games. It's also Soundblaster compatible too. Be sure to check the specs of your vintage computer for compatibility. I'm pretty sure this board still worked fine with the included driver disks when I upgraded the computer to Windows 95, but it's been a long time.
I never had any problems with this board. It has been unused since the 90s and has remained in storage. It is sold as is and has not been recently tested. The board is very clean as you can see in the photos.
Reveal was a company that basically redistributed other companies computer products. You'll notice the Lechmere tag. I used to sell computers and accessories at Lechmere at the time of this products release.
Reasonable BuyItNow Price! Some Ensoniq Soundscape boards have sold for nearly $200 without the driver disks, box, manuals, etc.
Includes the Card, Original box, Driver Disks, Video Installation Manual, Manuals, etc.
