This superb, rare, green "Sun Standard No.2" typewriter dates from around 1910.The Sun Typewriter Company of New York, USA manufactured their "Standard No. 2" machine between 1901 to 1924.The print heads strike the platen when the keys are depressed, with the exception of the "U, H, J and N" keys which don't move when they are pressed.The carriage doesn't move along when typing or when the space bar is used, but does move along when lifted and moved by hand, however. it does rotate f...ine.The ink roller is missing.The carriage lifts up when the "CAPS" key is pressed.The body has only a small amount of paint loss, mainly to the edges, there is also some staining in places, this would bes removeable. The gold lining, lettering and patent dates are still present and have a good colour with only small scratches or breaks. The "Sun Typewriter" logo to the front also has a good colour.The nickel plating and metal parts do show some loss of finish and surface rust in places.The keys are all present and they are clear and legible with some staining in places.I have tried to show the condition in the photographs. The machine is attached to its' original wooden base.This rare machine will require some TLC to bring to its' full glory and then it will grace any collection.
