Antique American Pewter Teapot, Roswell Gleason, c. 1850 - 70. This teapot has a dark but polished patina with a classically turned body. This is a very nice American pewter teapot in a classical shape with a curved spout and a scroll handle. The teapot has an impressed mark on the base that reads, "R. GLEASON ". This is the mark of Roswell Gleason who worked out of Dorchester, MA from 1850 until his death in 1890. This mark can be found in "Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, page 97,... where a teapot was valued at $35, back in 1957. DIMENSIONS: 7 1/2" H. x 5 1/4" W. x 10 5/16" L. from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle.
CONDITION: The condition is very good with some minor wear to the pewter body. There is some black paint missing to the handle as well.
