ANTIQUE 1800's GREINER Blonde Hair Blue Eyes TOTALLY ORIGINAL PAPER MACHE DOLL
A wonderful, 1800's, papier-mache shoulder plate doll with a horsehair stuffed cloth body, leather arms, stitched fingers, and leather boots with pearl buttons. She wears her original clothes and they include: pantaloons, a cotton slip, a black taffeta skirt and a blue striped blouse that feels like silk. The blouse has pearl or shell buttons and lace cuffs. On one of her c...loth legs is stamped: " PATENT JUNE 23 / 78 " (see photo) and on the back of her shoulder/plate is a rectangle where the original Greiner sticker was (see photo). This doll measures approximately 16 1/2" high and is in, generally, good condition. Everything is there and appears to be original. Her face and shoulder/plate have scratches and wear to the original paint, one of her leather hands is missing the fingers, there are stains on the cloth body, a couple of holes and tears to her outer garments, the seam has opened connecting one leather boot to her leg (in the front, I have put a small piece of tape on it so it won't open anymore) and she will need a stitch, here and there, on some of the seams (a couple of small places where they have opened). There are no cracks or chips to the shoulder/plate and her painted features still look good. For some reason, there is a hole in the back of her torso, below the shoulder plate, that looks like it was made intentionally. (see photo). This is a very rare, old, Greiner papier-mache and cloth doll that will look wonderful in any collection! She displays very nicely. (Stand not included) Being offered with no reserve.
