Original Description:
Up for auction is a stunning Maori wooden mask. It is clearly old and looks to date from the 19th century for sure. Size is 12 inches x 6 inches. It's made of a strong but light type of wood and appears to have remains of red pigment on it. A very striking and atmospheric piece and culturally significant. Most Maori items sold today are just souvenir or tourist items but this definitely is not one of those. Antique Maori items are very scarce outside New Zealand. Guaranteed to be antiq...ue. Will post worldwide. Update to the do-nothing watchers, the price will not be reduced so don't bother holding out for that to happen.
