Reference Number: Avaluer:86554Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Original Description:
Itwas only with the First World War that women became part of the war effortbeyond domestic duties. The Motor Corps was established by the National Leagueof Women’s Services in conjunction with the Red Cross. It was entirelyvoluntary and appealed to many female socialites in Brooklyn who had the timeand the money to share.  Among the roles women could play, the Motor Corpswas particularly challenging. It required the most training and time: achauffeur’s license, mec...hanics’ license, a typhoid inoculation, and a car!Their duties included transport and ambulatory services for troops in the localregion and they were on call 24/7.PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY!This original vintage poster isrepresentative of the significant role these ladies played in the war effort;the “Yes We Can” precursor to Rosie the Riveter.  It measures29 ¾” X 40 ¼” and is in pristine condition.  Signed by the artist, HeleneJones, it has a minor water stain outside the circle at 8 o’clock near thelower left corner and another at 6 o’clock near the bottom edge.  There are two minor rips on the right sidebetween 3 and 4 o’clock and a newly acquires 1 inch pressure cut below the T inmotor.  This is in remarkable shape whenyou consider the brittleness of the 100 year old paper.  I saved the best one for last! This   is even better than the one I have mountedin my office.  Which leads me to shipping;I am very carefulshipping posters.  They are rolled inheavy craft paper before being put in a tube and then placed into the shippingcontainer.  You pay good money, you wantsafe shipping.  No one ships safer thanI.  Buyer pays shipping and handling of $25.00for USPS (DOMESTIC) Priority mail,   I accept bank check or PayPal andship same day if possible.  Don’t missout on this piece of history.  They mountnicely as you can see in the last photo.
