**Please note: if ebay doesn't calculate shipping for you it means the package is too large to ship to your country.** Here’s a rare old violin! The tag inside reads “Violin No. 11 Made By Elmer E. Powers Leominster, Mass March 1890”. Additionally, there are some pencil markings on the wood inside that mimick most of what is on this tag. From what I’ve seen mentioned online about this maker, this might be more of a fiddle than a classical violin. The body is nearly 1 ½” thic...k, and from top to bottom it measures approximately 24 inches. The finish has some wear but I don’t see any cracks or other major damage anywhere. I see a couple dings just to the right of the righthand F hole, but no cracks there. The back has beautiful stripes in the wood. The sound post has come loose inside and needs to be re-set. There’s a receipt from 1978 in the case showing that new tuning pegs were installed at this time, along with strings, new chin rest, tailpiece, and general adjustment. The old chin rest and tailpiece were retained and are included, along with some petrified-looking rosin. Please note: I installed the bridge and barely tightened the strings for the purposes of taking photographs. I didn’t tune the instrument for fear of damaging it without the support of the sound post. I would recommend taking the same precautions. There is a bow included as well. It is marked L Bausch, but it is hard to read… I had to put some chalk on the letters just to make them out. The bow has no hair on it, and the knob is broken off the end. It will need repair. The (apparently) original wooden case is included as well… it was absolutely in pieces when I got it and I managed to glue it back together enough that it’s at least usable. I’m not an expert on violins, so please examine the pictures carefully! I’ve tried to mention everything I observe here, but this violin and bow needs some work and is sold as-is.
