This lot was hand-picked by me from Sea Glass beach on Kauai, Hawaii before all the tourists discovered the beach and picked it clean in the early 2000s. I could find gallons of beautiful sea glass in an afternoon simply looking down and also snorkeling for the really good pieces. It is now illegal to pick sea glass in Hawaii.Origin:This genuine surf-tumbled sea glass was collected from all over the world for almost 25 years when my obsession began, most coming from what I found living... in Hawai'i for almost a decade, living in Florida for 12 years, while on ocean-side vacations, and from domestic and international purchases. If the exact location is known it is listed in the auction title.Definition:Sea Glass (aka Beach Glass) is discarded glass and bottles thrown into the ocean that morphs over decades by the constant motion of the waves, sand, and rocky shores into precious little gems. Sunlight also reacts with the glass, contributing to the etched surface, and the chemical composition of the water leaches out substances from the glass contributing to very tiny pitting or etching of the surface of the sea glass.Glass Grades:Divided into grades from craft sea glass that is less smooth to jewelry grade that is almost without imperfections, each piece is unique to your needs. Some uses are mosaic art, jewelry, candle making, vase filler, mixed in with seashells and potpourri... The highest quality pieces have few shiny spots, are well frosted, and have smoother edges than craft-grade sea glass. All grades are available in my auctions as well as sea glass jewelry and other coastal inspirations.General Info:Coastal Inspirations is green using LED light bulbs, 100% post-consumer content recycled paper, recycling, composting, reusing packing materials whenever possible, etc. Please reduce, reuse, recycle. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, and if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact me to remedy the situation.
