This original authentic item is an IPSWICH TOWN home / training shirt from around 1984.
To confirm, this is an original shirt from 1984 and is NOT a more modern copy.
Manufacturer is adidas, with the trefoil being felt embossed.
This is a bit of a mystery shirt really. It might, or might not be, an Ipswich shirt. It is the same design as their home shirt from this period, though is also the same design as the France National ...team shirt of the same period. The person I purchased this from was from the Ipswich area and told me it WAS an Ipswich shirt.
It is an airtex design. It does NOT have the team badge on the front. The back has a felted number 4, with the adidas logo on the bottom of the number.
I asked for info on this shirt on Twitter and it caused a bit of a stir, though nobody had a definitive answer. It is POSSIBLE that it was worn in a pre-season friendly in much warmer climates. Similarly it could be a training shirt, though why number it?

Size of the shirt: the neck label states the size is 97-102cm ADULTS MEDIUM. This is a tight fitting 1980s fit, is closer to a modern ADULTS SMALL. Condition of the shirt is around VERY GOOD++. The only faults is related to the felted adidas trefoil with a couple of very minor bits of wear - please study the photos . Otherwise the shirt is in EXCELLENT condition.
