Tigers In Combat I - Wolfgang Schneider - J.J. Fedorowicz Publishing
RARE!
Absolutely incredible book from J.J. Fedorowicz Publishing - one of the ultimate books on the Tiger. Both volume 1 and volume 2 were re-issued by Stackpole books in a softcover format around 10 years ago, but in my opinion they suffered from a lack of picture reproduction quality - the original JJ. Fedorowicz books have higher quality pictures and also accurate colour plates backed by pictures, and have a much higher quality 'feel' about them. Literally hundreds of high quality photos, great colour plates & masses of information. Essential book for Tiger aficionados and one that is now extremely hard to find! If you get the chance to own this book, don't pass it up!
Here's an Amazon customer review (2001) - the reviewer gave the book 5 out of 5:
This book is not for the general reader who expects detailed accounts of combat using the Tiger I's and II's. The details are one line entries for the major unit events in date order. For example, the combat history of Schwere Panzerabteilung 504, is covered in 9 pages which covers from its formation in December 42 to its surrender to the British in May 45. Organisation information is given in diagram form together with any revisions throughout the unit’s life.Where the strength of this book lies, is the superb photographic coverage of the Tiger I's and Tiger II's in action, on the march and at rest.
Whilst the price may seem high to some, the coverage with its diversity of photographs, gives a valuable source to anyone interested in this area.
Tigers in combat II - the second book, provides again a similar wealth of reference material, in the same format.
478 page (2nd revised edition) hardcover published 2000
