Original Description:
You are bidding on an extremely rare Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) AlphaStation 200 computer, built June 12, 1995. It has been tested to the prompt screen and gave us no errors up to that point. The LED diagnostic lights at the back of the computer communicated the positive message (Hex Value E5) to indicate that the console had been initialized. The console is currently set to SRM mode, as indicated by the Hex Value. The digitized user manual for this computer is readily availab...le online. From the manual: "AlphaStation 200 Series systems currently ship with 512-KB of console firmwareflashROM. The flashROMs are loaded with SRM firmware for OpenVMS and DigitalUNIX systems, or ARC firmware for Windows NT systems. You can change from SRMto ARC or from ARC to SRM by using the Firmware Update Utility. (Refer to AppendixE, Updating System Firmware.) You do not need to modify your system hardware. Theoperation simply reprograms the firmware flashROMs".
This computer is currently set to SRM firmware. It's not pictured, but I'm throwing in a Manhattan computer power cable that was originally new old stock but has since been used just twice only to test this system.

There are several flaws with this computer: There is no harddrive installed, only the regular disk drive and CD-R drive. The case has a bit of rusting, and a few of the metal case parts on the inside are rusted. The front panel of the case comes off very easily, as many of the plastic tabs have broken off. A few of the metal tabs on the inside of the case lid are coming loose. The case also comes off fairly easily because the lock mechanism that is meant to turn to keep it in place is no longer there. The base metal piece for the lock is there, but not the large metal tab that swings to lock the lid. The key is also not present. It seems that there is a small piece of the plastic front panel missing from the left side. The plastic power button cover is missing from the front, as well! This computer was acquired second-hand more than a decade ago, so I cannot guarantee all the original components listed on the stickers are still present.
I originally got this computer to turn it in to a Linux workstation but never got around to it in the years that I've had it, so now it's time to pass it along to someone else who may actually benefit from having it and using it.
This computer is being sold as is, as shown and described here. Please view all photos and read description carefully, and ask any questions you may have before bidding on this item. Thank you for your interest!
