(6) AFRICAN ASHANTI / ASANTE AKAN GOLD WEIGHTS. These unique artifacts run from .5" to 2.75" in length or diameter. They are the very unusual Ashanti, Akan brass gold weights from Ghana, probably made in the 1800s. The Asante carried most of their wealth with them in the form of gold dust and during transactions these weights represented known masses to the owner.
