Ingoldsby's legend, artfully illustrated in the style of an illuminated manuscript by Ernest Maurice Jessop.Richard Harris Barham (6 December 1788 17 June 1845) was an English cleric of the Church of England, novel...ist, and humorous poet. He was known better by his nom de plume Thomas Ingoldsby.
The best-known poem of the collection is the "Jackdaw of Rheims", about a jackdaw, who steals a cardinal's ring, and is made a saint. The village pub of Denton was renamed "The Jackdaw Inn" in 1963, after the story.
Publisher's quarter cloth, Folio, two colour printed paper covered bevelled boards. Printed on recto only tailpiece. Illustrated by Ernest M. Jessop and printed in two colours (grey-green or black and red). Chalked yellow endpapers
