this is an early chronological history of Britain from The Roman Government... to the time of the publication of this book, relating all the key points in British History from AD 61 to 1722
the book was originally owned by a J. Keene, who has added some manuscript notations within the text to around ten pages, plus notes to the endpapers, although he agrees this is a useful book, he accuses the author as being “A Rank Jacobite and Tory”, and claims that he has expressed his extreme prejudices within the work to suit his own cause and allegiances
the book is bound in an old full leather binding in the Cambridge style, 8 inches tall approx., 422 pages plus preface, index and publishers catalogue, with four full page illustrations
CONDITION
the binding is showing some signs of wear with cracking to both joints with some mild evidence of an old glue repair, boards loosened but holding, internally the mentioned and pictures notes including a note on the money in silver and gold exported to the East India Company
some browning to opening and closing pages, an ink mark just touching the margins of a few pages, else in good general condition
A GENERALLY GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS EARLY YEAR BY YEAR HISTORY OF BRITAIN TO DATE OF PUBLICATION
ALONG WITH A FEW VERY POINTED CRITICAL MANUSCRIPT NOTES ABOUT THE BOOK BY ITS ORIGINAL OWNER
