Vintage Panoramic Photographs (3.5" x 11.5") Mercedes, TX, ca. 1912, set of 42. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.
This is a set of 42 vintage photographs, taken in the same approximate period of time by the Corpus Christi photographer, Karl Swafford. They were used by an academic historian to determine land-use patterns and trends in the Rio Grande Valley in early 20th century Texas. This series represents a unique vantage point into a particular town and landscape as it exist...ed in one time frame - late April, 1912. In fact, most of them are captioned with a single date: Apr. 25, 1912!
I am only able to supply 12 images, due to eBay's picture limits, but all the images are in very good shape - minimal wear and tear, few scratches or blemishes, and no torn or worn out corners. The pictures are actually startlingly beautiful, with some poignant scenes of everyday people and things, depicted with an artistic eye. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This photographic series is from the personal estate of a longtime collector – a respected university academic and expert in the field of vintage photographs. Dr. John Miller Morris, Jr., acquired an extensive private ands cholarly collection that was the basis of his research as a Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio.These photographs have been immaculately maintained - carefully stored in a humidity and temperature-controlled, smoke-free environment. To guard against damage, they were encased in several layers of plastic protection and stored vertically.A note about the photographs: We provide clear pictures of both the front and back of each photograph. This allows you to view them carefully to judgethe condition for yourself. Most creases, tears, edge/corner wear, etc. shouldbe noticeable in the scans. However, please realize that we cannot mentionevery little flaw and that not every flaw will be clearly visible inthe pics. - Sometimes there may be light crinkles/creases, surfacescratches, surface crazing, indentions, etc. that are not visible in the pics.We will mention any major flaws.
