Three volumes, bound in half leather with marbled paper covered boards. Measuring approx. ...20cm x 13.5cm x 2.5cm. There is a small split to top and bottom of board/spine edges. Little chipped to top of spines (touch more so to volume 2.). Small nick to base of spine of volume I. Paper covered boards are a little browned and scuffed (see photos). Internally there is a bookplate to inside front board of Volume I. and some pencil detail to front free endpaper. The rear endpaper of volume 2. has large tear and chip with loss. The endpapers and blanks of all volumes are straining/splitting to inner edges. The handcut outer page edges are naturally little tatty/bumped/grubby. Small chip to top of one title page. Very occasional light foxing and some light grubbiness. Little marginal toning/dustiness, occasional mark and crease, else overall the majority of contents are in reasonably clean and firm condition.
Numerous fabulous wood engraved illustrations principally by BEWICK (John & Thomas), and some by NESBIT.
