From my late father's personal effects. As I understand it now, years later, my father flew kites as a release from the stress of his adventurous life. Constant career changes, the waning Industrial Age, fiber optics, plastic, sex in movies, fuel injection...it was all a rising tide made of everything he'd never heard of. Ha...mburgers served to you through a tiny window by girls not on roller skates? What's next... A fish on a taco?
A kite in the air is no small thing, though to others it may appear small because of parallax view, perspective, and distance. But to the one holding the string, or strings, if you're flying a stunter, it's like flying a kite without a key. And for those who know, there is no "i" in Trlby. This is a kite too fantastic for any one human to keep to themselves. It's no wonder Trlby disappeared. The geniuses behind the mylar curtain likely took their money and flew. But my father knew, and he left two Trlby kites unopened in his humidor, along with his stash of official Trlby Retailer materials. Letters from the boss, stuff to help you sell, optimistic marketing blather for the future of Trlby...it's all here in 1986 end cap splendor, for the lucky high bidder or buyer-of-it-now.
Up for auction are two Trlby Single Stunter, "Classical Fighter" kites in original factory packaging, unopened. One grey/black, the other light blue/dark blue. And since my father was an actual Trlby retailer, this auction includes all the retail marketing materials I could unearth from what he left us with, as pictured. It's a kite collector's windy dream.
