This is the second ofMichael’s top three model kits: Sankyo MokeiMitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter Type 52 model kit (no kit number). 1/30 scale. This kit was issued in the 1960’s and is not included in the JohnBurns model kit guides (The Collectors Value Guide 7th Edition 1999, PlasticWW2 Aircraft Kits 1993) but is shown in Masayuki Hiratsuka's “The 20th CenturyAirplane Plastic Model Encyclopedia” 2004 in the Mitsubishi Zero section. I believe this kit was is...sued prior to the Sankyo Zero (#M-4-500) that was listed last week. The kit features more transparent clear parts (both fuselage halves and all wing sections) which allows you to see the the internalcomponents of the aircraft. Other partsare molded in red, green and black plastic. This is a beautiful large-scale motorized plastic kit which is akin tothe Monogram Phantom Mustang...even the boxart design is similar. Parts are contained in three plastic bags andthe kit is assumed to be complete with all parts, decals and Japaneseinstructions. Also included is anunboxed electric motor. The plane hasnot been assembled or painted. The boxis in very good condition with no significant damage, although one corner hasbeen reinforced from the inside. Boxartwith bright colors. Please note that thebackground of the visible plane is dark blue. For some reason, some of the photos show it as black. This kit is rarely seen inthe United States and certainly not in as excellent and complete condition. This is the only example of this kit that Ihave seen in my 45 years of collecting plastic model kits. "When was the last time you saw a Sankyo Mokei model kit?"
