Who was injured and missing in Action, later reported being held as a Prisoner of War in Stalag IV-C Germany
The archive consist of seventeen letters and documents from the War Office and the Wiltshire Yeomanry relating to Corporal Rudkin who was first reported as missing in action, then later news came of his having suffered some injuries and being held as a prisoner of war in Italy, later being transferred to Stalag IV-C Prisoner of War Camp, the letters are addressed to a Major B. A. Rudkin, who was presumably missing Corporal Rudkin’s father,
the correspondence continues from 1942-1945 when Corporal Rudkin was finally returned to England in May 1945
Rudkin’s name also appears in the accompanying regimental history
there are also other documents about the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry Families Association, a Christmas Card, and newspaper cuttings about the Wiltshire yeomanry in the Eighth Armies breakthrough at Alamein in 1942, Corporal Rudkin was reported missing on 2nd November 1942
the book has some rubbed spots to the leather at spine ends, mild corner bumping, light marking, internally some browning to endpapers and first page of main text, the blank page opposite has been used by the original owner to record some relevant notes on regimental horses
