This is a superb example of the hook boomerang originating from Central Australia and collected there in the mid 20thC. Carved from hardwood the boomerang has exceptional fluting to the upper side and fine adzing to the reverse. The boomerang has a very large upper section with the back of the boomerang to the end of the beak measuring 34.5cm in width. There are remains of ochre and it has a great patina from use - there is a small old flaw in the timber at the butt of the handgrip.
