Original Description:
. . . IBM PC and XT Computer with Keyboard, Monitor, and Extras Before I get into the details I will be shipping these items in 3 boxes, one for the PC, one for the XT, and one for the monitor, keyboard, and extras. This will easily cost me $150 in shipping. This is why I have started the bidding at $250. Please, please, please read the entire description. It's your fault if you don't read a...nd you encounter something unexpected that I mentioned in the description. I'm very descriptive and honest about the condition of my items.

THE XT SYSTEM
AMD 8088 CPU, 640KB RAM, 8087 Math Coprocessor Installed 256KB On-board RAM with AST SixPakPlus 384KB RAM Card Installed
A new BR2325 Coin Cell Battery is Included for the Real Time Clock (RTC)
Conner CP3000 40MB IDE Hard Drive 360KB 5¼" Floppy Diskette Drive (may be larger, see details) 720KB 3½" Floppy Diskette Drive (may be larger, see details) Hercules High Resolution Graphics Card IBM PC/3278 Mainframe Emulation Card PC Power Cable Included
PROBLEMS: Blown Tantalum Capacitor (see pic above and details below) No IDE Hard Drive Controller DETAILS: The last time I had this system running was in 2003 in my classroom when I was a teacher (in an area I called Jurassic Park). I also had the PC that's up for auction running along side it. After that year I brought the systems home, put them in the attic and there they sat ever since. Back in December I decided to auction them off. I powered up the XT, it started up just fine, then BAM! A tantalum capacitor let loose. I've replaced tantalum caps on PC and XT boards before as it's not too difficult. Given the age of this system they should all be replaced and unfortunately I just don't have the time. The system originally had a Silicon Valley Computer ADP50L IDE hard drive controller in it. However, I recently used that card to get another XT class computer running (a Cordata CS40 that may still be up for auction). You'll need to purchase one of the XT-IDE cards available today to either power the included IDE hard drive or a CF card. I don't remember if the diskette drives are 1.2MB and 1.44MB or 360KB and 720KB. Assume they are the smaller variety and if they turn out to be the larger, bonus for you! I'm fairly certain the floppy controller supports the larger drives. THE PC SYSTEM
Intel 8088 CPU, 768KB RAM, Math Coprocessor Socket 256KB On-board RAM with Fly Tech 512KB RAM Card Installed Adaptec MFM Hard Drive Controller Fuji FK309-39R 32MB MFM Hard Drive 360KB 5¼" Floppy Diskette Drive Original IBM PC Floppy Controller Original IBM CGA Color Graphics Card Printer Port (LPT) Card PC Power Cable Included
PROBLEMS: The Floppy Diskette Drive Door is Missing (see details) The System Has Not Been Powered Since 2003 (see details as to why) DETAILS: Because the XT system blew a tantalum capacitor when fired up after sitting so long I decided not to fire up the PC. I'll leave that up the buyer/collector to give the system a good inspection before applying power. One of my students broke the floppy drive door assembly. I removed it thinking I would find another later, I never did. THE MONITOR, KEYBOARD, EXTRA CGA VIDEO CARD, AND SPARE  MOTHERBOARD
The monitor and keyboard work 100%. I recently used them on the Cordata XT system I have up for auction (see pics). The monitor has a few dings but is in pretty decent shape. The keyboard is still in practically new condition. It could use a mild key cleaning (nothing gross, no spills or anything like that, just light use) The XT system was originally used for CAD and that's why it has the Hercules card and 8087. When I had the system running for the students I put the spare CGA card in (for games, what else). I put the Hercules card back in before I stored the systems. I acquired the spare motherboard from an XT system at the same engineering firm I acquired the XT system from (see history below). They were cannibalizing the system to keep their remaining XT systems running. They gave me what was left of it (case, motherboard, and power supply). The Dysan anti-glare / privacy filter for the monitor is in new condition.
HISTORY OF SYSTEMS
The XT I acquired from a local engineering firm in 1994. They were using it as a CAD machine connected to their IBM mainframe. The PC I acquired in 1993 from a local hospital. It was located in their accounting department doing mundane spreadsheet tasks most likely. Both systems were used on and off by me until 2003 when they were stored. OVERALL THOUGHTS
These systems are not what you would call "museum quality" as others on eBay claim theirs are. There's the typical scuff marks from monitors sitting on top of them and the PC is missing two of the cork feet underneath. The monitor has a few bruises here and there and the keyboard could use a mild cleaning. However, none of the metal has dents in it anywhere and all the original hardware, like the screws and PC slot cover plates, are included. Everything inside and outside is original to the systems. These systems are being sold as-is and I will not accept returns. Please keep this in mind before bidding. This is vintage hardware and must be  treated as such. As I stated, the systems ran fine up until 2003 but I can't guarantee anything after that, especially given that the capacitors will probably need replacing.

I will create custom Styrofoam inserts for the computers and monitor. They will arrive to you undamaged. Again, I will be shipping these items in three boxes because of their size and weight and to ensure they are not damaged in shipping. . . The three documentation and software packages I have pictured came with the systems when I acquired them. They are included in the auction with the systems. The DOS 3.3 package only contains the 5¼" diskettes, it did not contain the 3½" diskettes when I received it.Information and drivers/utilities for the SixPakPlus can be gotten here:

I'm happy to help but don't expect me to be your on-call technician for these systems. If you are unfamiliar with hardware this old then it will be up to you to educate yourself on your purchase. If you have no experience replacing parts at the component level on a motherboard I would suggest you pass this auction by. At the very least you will be replacing at least one tantalum capacitor to get the XT system up and running (or swap the motherboard with the spare provided which may need cap replacement as well). . . . . . . . . . 90'sWeb Flashback Template Design by KC8EYT On Jul-05-19 at 12:41:12 PDT, seller added the following information:UPDATE: I had a request for a picture of the floppy controller in the XT system. I added the picture to the list of pictures above.
