This Lanier P-85 cassette transcriber is a 1970s commercial-grade recorder that accepts standard size cassette tapes. It includes its original remote control microphone. Unit is cleaned and in good cosmetic condition, showing minor wear from normal use. Basic functions are tested. Tapes play, fast-forward, rewind, and record, but drive belts appear to be a bit worn out. Speech sounds fine on playback, but music sometimes sounds slightly warbly. Rewind and fast-forward sometimes don't e...ngage on the first try, but some tapes I tested it with didn't have this problem at all. Remote mic works properly, and has a working "space" button that will record 1-2 seconds and automatically stop. Unit has a speed adjust knob, volume and tone controls, and sound can be played back through the recorder's speaker or the small one built into the handheld mic. A green indicator light brightens and dims with the volume of the sound you are recording. The slider tab search function was not tested.
