Being offered is a nice old antique Balinese or Lombok Keris kris sword which features a very nice chiseled Naga or Singha in the blade. This sword measures 23 1/2” when measured in its scabbard. The handle is wood which would have originally had a fine woven brass wrap. Unfortunately, the majority of the wrap is gone. Has a brass pommel with a top piece that is dented. The mendak is brass with some tearing to some of the brass. The scabbard is pretty go...od. Has a very nice top piece with a finely grained wood showing wavy lines as the grain. The front is a veneer with the back a solid piece of wood. There are chips and dings to the wood and veneer on both sides.
The blade is the star of the show. The blade features a finely chiseled Naga. The long snake body has been carved in enoug relief where it stands a bit proud of the blade and then the singha head also of chiseled steel with moves kemp tongue. The details of the head are a bit more worn. Another cool feature is that the blade is darkened on the edges but the body of the Naga is not somthe grey chiseled steel Naga body contrasts nicely with the dark edges. This Naga is original and old. Many were added after the fact but not this one. This blade deserves a new handle. With a bit of TLC you could restore this blade and have one beautiful Keris.
