Gorgeous condition Sharp GF series radio cassette ghettoblaster, made in Japan in 1981 during the golden age of portable electronics. This boombox is aesthetically very pleasing, with classic styling and beautiful symmetrical design. This particular model is the GF-8989Z. It is in such beautiful clean condition, it appears to have been hardly used across the 37 years it has existed for. Barely a mark on it, fully working, and deep, full powerful sound from the crisp white 6.5” woofer...s. The grilles are clean and dent free, and the chrome surrounds are bright and perfect. The paintwork is in lovely condition with so few mark that the boombox appears new. The clear windows are glossy and clear, with no nicotine or UV staining. The LED VU meter looks wonder moving with the music. This beautiful system work like new as well, with all functions of the feather-touch logic cassette deck working nicely, cassette playback is clear and balanced. Radio picks up 4 bands of signal nice and strong. On the rear of the unit there are RCA jacks to plug in your external device such as iPhone or other music device, making this the perfect portable accompaniment to your music collection. This is a big, beautiful, heavy quality portable, when picked up and handled it feels like solid, well-made machinery. And it sounds like it too, with deep, warm bass and clean, clear highs. This lovely ghetto blaster works on 8 D cell batteries, 12V DC power pack or international selectable AC voltage. The battery compartment is clean and the terminals rust free. The antenna is straight and shiny. All knobs present and clean, and all functions work smoothly with no static or crackle.
This classic boombox is in such good order that I would recommend it go to the collector or museum, or a props department for film and movies.
