Vintage Ukrainian Embroidery Techniques by Tania Diakiw O'neill HC 1984 RARE. Condition is Like New. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. (11.25" x 8.75" - Hardcover 158 pages, Black and white drawings, patterns, and photos; color photos)This beautiful book is fully bi-lingual with parallel texts in English and Ukrainian. It is a great example of the stitching and embroidery traditions of Ukrainian folk embroidery. There is one condition issue towards the bottom of the front cover.... Another item I noticed is a light crease on the front end paper and pastedown end paper. This had to have happened in the printing/production of the book. Please view the photographs carefully. Also, note this book has an inscription and autograph from the author. Other than that, this book has no name written in it and it is also free from underlines and highlights. It is NOT ex-library and the corners are not bumped. This very cool book comes from a private collection that I acquired via an estate sale. The previous owner was downsizing into a new residence and from what I can tell from this collection, she was a master needle-worker/embroiderer. She was/is a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. She also enjoyed reading and researching about embroidery (her favorite being Hardanger), as evident by articles and clippings tucked into books that she owned. While cataloging these books/pamphlets/magazines I noted over 20 countries of origin and 14 different languages. The best part about her lovely collection is that she did not write her name inside of the books, nor did she mark in them or highlight them. She was also an extensive traveler and when she visited countries outside the United States, her destinations were to museums and sites that displayed textiles, tapestries and embroidery. Her home was a very neat mid-century home and she had an entire room dedicated to her needlework. These books were stored on bookshelves, filling an entire closet. The home was clean, nonsmoking and didn't appear to have pets. Please see my other listings for more gems from this collection. Fine Print: Please ask any questions you might have before bidding.
