Up for bid is a beautiful and rare genuine UNHEATED RED RUBY gemstone. This round gem measures 6.44mm X 6.3mm and weighs an impressive 1.28cts. The stone comes with GIA lab report (the most prestigious gem lab in the USA) stating that it is a natural Ruby, with NO INDICATIONS OF HEATING (unheated!). UNHEATED RUBIES ARE VERY RARE, ESPECIALLY OVER 1CT! The gem lab cert also states that there is wax in surface reaching fractures. I think this is referring to some dark dopping wax ...left over from the faceting process. UNHEATED RUBIES ARE VERY RARE AND VERY VALUABLE!! The origin is unknown, but GIA reports that this stone is a CMT Type 1 source ruby which could mean this is from several countries (see pic of report), including Burma and Vietnam. This is well over 1 carat and has nice color! This would make an impressive engagement ring or a center stone for a pendant or brooch. It is fluorescent under a black light. This is suitable for jewelry, but also a great addition to your gem and mineral collection!
