Original Description:
A very rare late 18th or probably very early 19th century pearlware Knitting sheath. Of heart shape with a moulded figure of an winged Putti holding bunches of grapes all within a garland of blue flowers.This would have been stitched to a belt and a steel knitting needle inserted into the hole at the top to enable the user to knit with three needles. The same form appears also in brass and steel and are traditionally thought to originate in the Lancashire Yorkshire area.Height 9 cm.Som...e very good restoration to the rim, I think.
