This sale is for a rare US Air Force C-6 4x5 Press Camera, sold to the Air Force in 1958 by Beseler, which was known mostly for their photo enlargers and the Topcon cameras they imported and distributed from Japan. The camera itself was probably made in Japan for Beseler, but there is no indication of this marked on it. The C-6 may have been made by the company that makes the Wista field cameras.
This camera was quite advanced for it's day. The rangefinder, viewfinder, swings ...and tilts and other items were way ahead of the competing Graflex and Busch press cameras of the day. Interestingly, the camera, while it competed with Graflex Crown and Speed Grpahics, was sold to the Air Force with Graflex manufactured accessories.

The camera is equipped with two shutters--a "between the lens" Wollensak Rapax and a focal plane shutter. The Rapax shutter works properly on all speeds and the lens looks clear. The focal plane shutter works sporadically; the higher speeds seem to work OK--at least most of the time--but the "T'' and "B' settings are at best erratic. Currently, the focal plane shutter is wide open, and the camera can be used for picture taking by using the front Rapax shutter. Also, the rangefinder appears to work properly.
