A hand coloured lithographic satirical map by Kisaburo Ohara, printed at the beginning of the the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05.
It depicts the Russians as an octopus grabbing everything but meeting their match in the Japanese who will give them a bloody-nose.
Aimed at the Japanese market for propaganda purposes but also at Britain as a warning not to get involved. Japanese and Englishlanguage text.
This map is genuinely rare and very collectab...le, OCLC can only locate four institutional holdings worldwide.
It is in very good condition with small signs of use and age which include fold creases.
It measures approx 66cm by 50cm.
