You are bidding on an extremely rare 1894 4x5 Kodet #4 made by the Eastman Kodak Co.; serial number 1652. The front face hinges down to reveal a brass barrel lens and shutter. The focusing lever is on the side of the camera; it moves and focuses with ease. The back and side doors need to be hinge-reinforced. The top strap is missing. The ground-glass is only secured with tape; it should have clips. The f-stops move smooth...ly and the shutter cocks and fires on both Time and Instant, as it should. Considering their age, the three plate-holders are complete and are in fine shape. A few of the dark-slides are a bit stiff. The George Eastman House Museum has only one example of this rare find, and this one is in better shape than the one in their collection. We pack carefully and ship promptly, always by U.S.P.S.
