Original Description:
Being offered is a very old antique 18th century Moro Kris sword.  These small kris with fine carving at the forte are early transitional kris from their Indonesian cousins to the later larger forms that took place in the 19th century.  This form is sometimes referred to as archaic.  This example measures 22 1/2” in total length when measured without its scabbard.  Wonderful wood handle with an old museum or collection number on the side.  Lovely patina and i...n great shape overall. Just a couple of very minor hard to notice dings.  The grip is tightly wrapped in string.  The blade has a deeply carved area in the forte on both sides of the blade.  Very sharp blade.  Some areas of oxidation but overall in good shape.  The scabbard is a very old one as well.  Has an old red label at the top.  One side of the mouth of the scabbard has broken off.  The bottom of the scabbard with nicely carved designs.  Very nice and early Moro Kris.  Please e-mail with any questions.  Please view my other auctions for a great variety of swords, daggers and tribal art.
