Material: wood, metal, glass.The chronometer was made in 1875 by Reid and Sons in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.A marine chronometer with a double hinged lid. The top section of thelid opens using a push button to reveal another lid with a glass panel in thetop. The chronometer can be viewed through the glass panel. The chronometersits in a metal ring that is fixed inside the box with two screws. Thechronometers mechan...ism is encased in a circular brass surround. The dial orface of the chronometer is white with black Roman numerals from 'I' to 'XII'marked around the edge. There are two smaller dials towards the middle of themain dial. The upper dial is marked from '0' to '56' while the lower dial ismarked from '10' to '60'. A circular glass cover sits over the face of thechronometer. A metal handles are missing on either side of the box. There is akey hole in the centre front of the box and a rectangular disc above the key hole. The keyis missing.The chronometer is fullyoperational.
