Wow! You are bidding on an ultra-rare Heathkit ID-1795 Rain Gauge. This item is in brand new condition with only one caveat, apparently the original owner did assemble only the outdoor tipping bucket unit, but everything else is unbuilt. (Addendum I was just contacted by another ebayer and they left me the following message: " I don't believe the owner assembled the rain bucket. Those come from Rainwise assembled. I know because I have one. They come assembled".) In addition, he s...ent me this in a second message: Rainwise who makes the collector does not even have that model anymore. There's a new one that replaces it. The one you have works just fine. Rainwise made changes or should I say cheapened it. As a matter of fact, those collectors are guaranteed by Rainwise for life. Just send them you bad one and they will give you another for free. I had to do that with my old one, which is the same one pictured in your auction. Rainwise sent out a new one for free. So, perhaps this unit truly is fully unbuilt as sent to you from Heathkit.
I did not take the time to inventory this unit. At the same time I purchased this several years ago, I also bought from the same owner the ID-4001 Weather Station. The gentleman assured me every item was included, and it was. Although I cannot emphatically guarantee everything is there, I am reasonably sure that it is, I even saw the peel and stick woodgrain decals. As with any vintage kit, you must take responsibility for its' construction. As well, be aware the few electrolytic capacitors are about 40 years old, so you may want to go new on these, a few dollars expense at most. I wrestled with selling this unit, but the need to buy Elecraft Amateur Radio equipment has finally won out, I'm selling other very interesting items, so check out my other auctions.
