Rare and unusual candleholder designed by preeminent American architect Richard Meier. This design is composed of various planes intersecting at 90 degree angles and is reminiscent of the early 20th century works of Kazimir Malevich and the Suprematist movement. The design was in production for a very short period and examples are considered to be very scarce. A wonderful example of Swid Powell's objects designed by leading architects of the period and micro-architecture. Swid Powell roduced designs by an amazing range of leading architects including Richard Meier, Ettore Sottsass, Michael Graves, Robert Venturi, Zaha Hadid, Gwathmey Siegel, Stanley Tigerman, Robert AM Stern, George Sowden, Steven Holl and others. The firm ceased production in the late 1990's and their objects have become increasingly sought after by modern design collectors and museums.
