AntiqueChild's Mother Of Pearl Palais Royal Needle Case French* Circa 1820 This littleantiqueFrench needlecase iscarved of mother of pearl and is inlaid on one side with the enameledpansy seal often seen on pieces from the Palais Royal. It is tinythough and must have been part of a child's set.
There is a small crack on the side and some tiny chips atthe edge of the sleeve under the top, but it's solid and the overallcondition is very nice. It fit...s together perfectly. The mother of pearlis nicelyluminous and it has an embossed gilded ring below the top. It measuresa petite 1 7/8" long and slightly over 1/4" wide.
ThePalais Royal was an arcade of shops within a wing of a former royalpalace in Paris. The shops opened in the late 1780s and housed thefinest French artisans selling only the highest quality goods. Items ofmother of pearl and precious metals were specialties there.
