A theatrical and beautifully hand painted watered silk damask shaped pelmet
which has been painted with a classical flower and scrolling swagged decoration
Of Italian origin, the silk is water marked and neglected but still remains an evocative and intriguing antique textile
Beautifully finished with a green cotton backing, stiffened with a sacking interior and finished with a tricolour wool braid bobble passementerie
the pelmet could equally have been a window or bed... dressing
Some fraying at the upper central rounded top edges which could be mended and an inset square of damask patch on the lower left corner
