***MORE PICTURES are in the "Item Description" or click "Read More"*** GEORGE QUAINTANCE (QUINTANO) 1902-19571955 ORIGINAL SIGNED HYDROSTONE SCULPTUREMALE SWIMMER #3 FROM NEPTUNE'S CHILDREN SERIESJust purchased this yesterday at an estate auction. This was on the mantle in the living room. Unfortunately they let it get dirty and it has some dirt or age spots. I did not try to clean it as this will need to be done delicately. There is a hairline crack in the ankle on one ...leg that has a small chip missing in the crack area-not too bad-most others being sold have worse damage. The cleaning will be the biggest concern but the brown spots and light marks make it look vintage and adds a little character (instead of clean bright white; which it should be). Signed on bottom "Quaintance" in black marker (smeared) and copyright 1955. I've included some info taken from the internet below the pictures. Selling as is with no returns please.
GREAT ITEM, GREAT COLLECTIBLE!"Neptune's Children" was a set of six figurines produced just before George Quaintance died. This group of sculptures was not included in the studio's sculpture catalog, and the first ads for the set did not appear until after George's death. Two of the six figures were buxom mermaids. The other four were male swimmers, posed in positions resembling the models in Coral Reef and Sunlit Depths .
