Fairly scarce Lyman Model 5A rifle scope, as used by the USMC on their M1903 Springfield sniper rifles. The rights to produce this scope were purchased from Winchester in the late 1920's. The scope is marked "THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP. /MADE IN U.S.A. MIDDLEFIELD, CONN. 5A" and it is serial number 1918. An improvement over the original Winchester design was the use of a small rail along the underside of the scope over which the forward mount rode. This rail eliminated rotation and kept ...the scope vertical. Overall condition is very nice with most of the original blue finish remaining. I'd grade the finish at about 90% with wear marks along the sides where the mounts move. It seems to function fine. The optics are outstanding.For more information on this scope see Col.
