For sale an ancient Asmat ritual dish with beautifull carved decoration on the sides. Nice patine too. I believe this dish to be stonecarved as the surface of the wood shows irregular lines/marks and the lines are pretty rude in contrast with deco carved with iron tools. Anyone having this object in his/her hands will agree/feel it surely is of high age. Objects from the Asmat this old are pretty rare and only collected by the first Dutch expeditions in the area.... A piece for the advanced collector. Estimated 1870 -1900 Condition; excellent, maybe some tiny slivers from the edge.
