Up for auction is an all original unique early wooden Gretz Beer advertising point of sale motion lighted sign from Philadelphia, PA. William Gretz Brewing Company created some spectacular advertising signs and this is one of their most unique design. The graphics show a football player running after a Jeep driven by his teammates and coach. The Gretz man is riding a bicycle. The motion on this sign are two things. His leg spins so it looks as if he is moving wh...ile riding the bike and the dog bobs up and down also looking like he is running. The mechanics are on the back and work well and continues to spin while plugged in. The light also works well and uses the same plug as the bike and dog.
The sign is made of cardboard, wood and glass. The wood is old and separating in some areas, as I have tried to show pics of this. The back right corner and front left corner. The sign is still very solid and will display with no problem. The front awning is made of cardboard and there is some damage on the corners, again shown in pics and does not detract from the stability of the sign. The leg, knee of the Gretz Man shows some separating but appears to have been repaired at one time. Overall the sign is very solid, displays well and runs completely. See pics for more details. The sign is all original with no replacement parts or paint. The sign was designed and manufactured by ARROW in Philadelphia and has the original decal on the back.
Sign measures 21.25in wide at the bottom, and 25in wide at the top. It measures 17in high in the front and 20.25in tall in the back. It measures 8in deep.
