Antique very rare Frechen stoneware mug.
Saltglazed stoneware, Frechen, Germany.
Late 16th century,
~ 1580.
Very nice, rare shaped & colored mug with three coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam.
Decorated with many cobalt blue spots.
It's one oft the first jugs with cobalt blue color that were made in Frechen.
In this time the potters experimented with the new cobalt blue color powder.
Height of the mug: 4.5 inches (11 ...cm).
This jug was part of a exhibition in the
Frechen pottery museum 'Keramion' in the year 2005
(Exhibition 'Zeigt her Eure Krüge').
The exhibition label is included.
Condition of the jug:
