Florsheim Shoes Vacuum Tube Lighted Display Store Sign If you are a serious adverting or neon collector, you might be aware of "vacuum tube" lighted signs. In our forty years of business, we have only seen two or three of them. They are RARE! The advertising is sealed into a large glass tube, and activated when plugged in. The lettering is stencil cut out of a thin metal sheet, and "back lit" by another thin metal sheet, which glows red when activated. The tube is encased by two chrom...e dome ends, set onto the larger base. The whole glass and chrome tube will turn to alter the angle. There is a cloth cord coming out of the left side, which feeds into the main body. There is an original cloth cord to plug into the wall. That cord has some fraying on the outer cloth casing, but the inner cloth cords are solid, and there is no exposed wire. There is overall age wear to the chrome, but it is all original, and shouldn't be restored (in my opinion). The light works well, but there is some intermittent flickering to the "Americas Smartest Quality Shoe" after it is lit for a while, and warms up. The flickering is not consistent, but does occur occasionally. Overall, the piece is so impressive and rare, that none of these minor age issues really matter.
