The Signature & Photographic Portrait of Dr. Wilson are in the ORIGINAL Matting & Frame, AS They were assembled in Cheltenham, England .... Edward Wilson's birthplace and hometown.
Wilson's signature is perhaps even more rare than Captain Robert Falcon Scott's signature. This is the only example of Wilson's signature I have never seen for sale.
Herbert Ponting was and is one of Antarctica's most renowned photographers.
Ponting's ORIGINAL photograph of Wilson, also, I've never seen offered for sale before.
MINUSES:
The light brown paper Wilson's signature is on, while still bold & crisp, and signed with a fountain pen, Does have some tiny black specks on it, especially near the "E" in Edward. Please see Scans.
The photograph, too, has its own blemishes, that I've circled in white on a close-up of the picture of Dr. Wilson.
Considering that this framed moment of one of the Greatest of All Polar Explorers is 100 years+ in age, the overall condition is quite good. The light grey mat board is completely clean with no foxing.
And the Frame itself is fully intact with edges of bright bold trim.
Offered WORLDWIDE, Sold AS IS, No Returns.
Please See Scans for a closer look at this marvelous Polar and Antarctic treasure. Thank you.
